Brush Artificial Turf and Catch Repair Issues Early

Separate Grooming From Repairs
Flattened synthetic fibers often need brushing. Lifted edges, opened seams, and new depressions need closer inspection. Walk around your turf before grooming and photograph problem areas. Keep people away from exposed fasteners and raised edges instead of brushing over them.
Clear Debris Before Brushing
Remove leaves, twigs, and loose soil weekly and after storms. Use a plastic rake, soft broom, or gentle blower without stripping infill from the surface. Accumulated organic debris encourages surface weeds and interferes with drainage. Keep nearby mulch and soil from spilling onto the turf.
Lift Fibers With the Right Brush
Use a synthetic-bristle turf brush or suitable push broom. Brush gently against the direction the fibers lean. Begin with a monthly inspection and grooming routine, then adjust for foot traffic and the product guide. Give pet paths and play areas extra attention. Avoid wire bristles and aggressive scrubbing.
Check Infill Without Guessing
Infill supports fibers and contributes to system performance. Inspect busy areas for uneven distribution or exposed backing. Not every system uses the same material or amount. Follow the specified infill and level. Do not add random sand or bury the blades to hide matting.
Address Small Weeds Carefully
Remove small surface seedlings gently before they enlarge. Clear surrounding organic debris. Stop if a weed is firmly rooted through an edge or seam. Do not cut the backing or pry apart a bonded joint. Use chemical treatments only when the label and turf guide permit the application.
Watch Seams, Drainage, and Heat
Inspect edges and seams regularly. After rain, note recurring puddles and new low spots. Do not punch drainage holes or attempt repairs with household glue. Keep hot tools, grills, and sharp furniture edges off the turf. Grooming does not repair melted fibers or a settled base.
