Overview
Beach spider lily is a Florida native coastal perennial with glossy straplike leaves and fragrant white flowers shaped like delicate spiders. It creates a bold tropical look without sacrificing native status.
Mature Size
Clumps commonly reach 2 to 3 feet tall and wide. Bulbs multiply slowly and create fuller colonies over time.
Light and Water
Full sun to partial shade works well. Provide regular water during establishment. Established plants tolerate brief drought and coastal exposure.
Soil and Drainage
Use well-drained sandy soil. Avoid locations where water remains around the bulbs after storms.
Care
Remove yellow leaves and spent flower stalks at the base. Divide crowded bulbs during warm weather when more plants are needed.
Landscape Uses
Use in coastal beds, poolside plantings, native borders, or repeating groups beneath open palms.
Best Planting Time
Spring through early fall supports active root growth.
Wildlife and Safety
Flowers attract night-flying pollinators. Bulbs and plant parts should not be eaten and should remain away from pets and children.
