Overview
Bridal Bouquet Plumeria is an upright tropical shrub or small tree with spoon-shaped leaves and repeated clusters of crisp white flowers with yellow centers. It stays narrower and more evergreen than many familiar plumerias.
Mature Size and Habit
Plants commonly mature 8 to 15 feet tall and 4 to 8 feet wide. Multiple stems form a tidy vertical crown that suits smaller courtyards and foundation beds.
Best Landscape Uses
Use it as a sunny courtyard specimen, poolside accent, narrow foundation feature, tropical screen, or large container plant. White flowers pair well with modern architecture.
Sunlight
Full sun produces the strongest flowering and firmest growth. Shaded plants become open, lean toward light, and flower less reliably.
Soil, Drainage, and Irrigation
Excellent drainage is essential. Water regularly during establishment, then allow the soil surface to dry between deep cycles. Constant wetness can rot roots and stems.
Best Planting Season for Tampa and Central Florida
Plant in spring or early summer after cold risk declines. Warm soil supports rapid rooting before the next winter.
Pruning and Maintenance
Prune lightly to remove damaged stems or control height. Cuts release milky sap and may reduce the next flowering cycle, so avoid unnecessary shaping.
Wildlife Value
Flowers attract occasional butterflies and other visitors, although plumeria offers limited dependable food compared with native flowering plants. The upright canopy provides minor shelter.
Cold and Heat Sensitivity
Heat, sun, and humidity suit this plant. It is frost sensitive and performs best in protected South Tampa microclimates, especially away from north winds.
Safety, Roots, and Placement Warnings
Milky sap can irritate skin and eyes, and plant parts are toxic if eaten by people or pets. Roots are generally manageable, but brittle stems need clearance from traffic.
Invasive Concerns
Bridal Bouquet Plumeria is not considered a major Florida invasive plant. Dispose of cut stems carefully because discarded pieces can sometimes root.
