Overview
Florida tickseed is a native wildflower with bright yellow daisy-like blooms on slender stems. It brings seasonal color and strong pollinator value to moist Central Florida landscapes.
Mature Size
Plants generally reach 2 to 4 feet tall and spread 1 to 2 feet.
Light and Water
Full sun produces the best flowering. Keep the soil consistently moist, especially during establishment and spring bloom.
Soil and Drainage
This species favors moist acidic soil and performs well in rain gardens, pond edges, and low native beds. It is a poor choice for dry gravel beds.
Care
Cut back spent stems after seeds mature or leave some seed heads for natural reseeding. Avoid heavy fertilizer.
Landscape Uses
Use in wet pollinator gardens, naturalized borders, swales, or around retention areas.
Best Planting Time
Fall through early spring is ideal for establishing roots before summer heat.
Wildlife Value
Flowers support native bees and butterflies. Seeds provide seasonal food for small birds.
