Glazer Children’s Museum Brings Spooky Science to Tampa in October

Glazer Children’s Museum has scheduled Spooky Science from October 1 through October 31, 2026, at 110 W Gasparilla Plaza in downtown Tampa. The museum presents the month as a playful, not-so-spooky mix of hands-on science, art, storytimes, and live performances for children and families. Its event page says kids can mix, test, and tinker through activities designed to encourage curiosity. Team GCM will lead storytimes, while science-inspired guests provide demonstrations and shows on selected dates. One featured MakeSpace project uses sunlight to create cyanotypes. Children arrange objects on light-sensitive paper, then use the sun to produce blue-and-white silhouettes of their chosen shapes. That is a specific activity announced by the museum, not a guarantee it will run without interruption on every visit. The published guest schedule includes Mad Science Shows on October 3 from 11:00 a.m. to noon and October 4 from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. Reactory Factory is listed for October 10 from 11:00 a.m. to noon. A Spheres Bubble Show follows on October 17 at the same time. Another Mad Science Show is listed for October 24 from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. Families who prefer a lighter seasonal outing can choose a museum visit without a haunted attraction or jump scares. The museum describes its atmosphere as approachable and fun. The event announcement provides the program dates and location, while the museum’s visit page remains the place to confirm daily hours, ticket prices, and admission policies.

The calendar makes this an easy activity to plan around a child’s interests. A family drawn to visual art can ask about the cyanotype project in MakeSpace and watch how sunlight changes the paper. A child who likes experiments may prefer a day with a live science show. Families with younger children can look for Team GCM storytimes and choose a quieter time if a crowded performance is less appealing. The museum’s page lists the five guest show dates and times, but it does not say every demonstration or storytime occurs on every day of October. Before buying tickets or traveling downtown, check the museum calendar for the specific date you have in mind. Its published description calls the activities hands-on STEAM, a mix of science, technology, engineering, art, and math. The appeal here is active participation. Children handle materials, make decisions about shapes and light, and see an immediate result from their work. The museum says its MakeSpace crafts are designed to build motor skills and support experimentation and collaboration. Those educational aims come from the organizer, not from an independent evaluation of the program. The downtown address is 110 W Gasparilla Plaza, near Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park. Plan for parking and the walking distance from your chosen garage, especially with small children. This article serves as a local family events notice for Ecoscape readers. It does not suggest Ecoscape operates the museum or guarantees admission, show availability, or the weather needed for a sunlight craft. Use the Glazer Children’s Museum event page for the latest program information.
