Hillsborough Seeks Feedback on West Park Dog Park Upgrades

Hillsborough County has opened public comment on proposed improvements to West Park Dog Park at 6402 Occident Street in Tampa. Residents have until Monday, October 19, 2026, to review the plans and share feedback through the county’s online engagement hub.
Planned work includes permanent restrooms, replacement pavilions and fencing, and upgraded dog amenities. The county also proposes a paved parking lot with additional spaces and drainage improvements, including a retention pond.
The county estimates the project will take six to eight months. Its announcement does not give a construction start date. These are proposed improvements, rather than completed facilities.
Residents who use the park should review the proposal and identify practical concerns about access, parking, drainage, and the dog exercise areas. Submit feedback through Hillsborough’s Engagement Hub during the October 6–19 comment period.
