Tampa Convention Center Wins Fourth Straight Regional Stella Gold

The Tampa Convention Center has earned the Gold Medal for Best Convention Center in the Southeast U.S. in the 10th Annual Stella Awards, marking the fourth consecutive year the downtown waterfront venue has taken the top regional honor. The awards are presented by Northstar Meetings Group and recognize performance across the meetings, trade show, and events industry. According to the City of Tampa’s October 7 announcement, the 2026 competition began with more than 1,100 global nominations and thousands of votes from verified event professionals. After public voting, an industry judging panel selected the regional winner. The City said the evaluation highlighted the Convention Center’s venue design, integrated service model, sustainability work, staff professionalism, and logistical support for conferences, trade shows, sports competitions, and multi-day conventions.

The recognition arrives during what the City describes as a banner 2026 for the Tampa Convention Center. The venue has hosted more than 320,000 attendees and generated an estimated $149 million in local economic impact during the year. Its downtown Riverwalk location includes 600,000 square feet of flexible event space, along with technology infrastructure and outdoor waterfront areas that connect major gatherings to Tampa’s hotels, restaurants, and attractions. The City also noted several other 2026 honors, including an International Association of Venue Managers Venue Excellence Award, a Smart Stars Award from Smart Meetings, and recognition in Exhibitor Magazine’s Centers of Excellence. Together, the awards reinforce the Convention Center’s role as both a major public-facing part of Tampa’s waterfront and an economic engine for the city’s hospitality and events sector. The fourth straight Stella Gold adds a sustained regional benchmark to that broader record.
