Tampa Names Forest Hills Multipurpose Field in Honor of Roland Paz Sr.

The City of Tampa has announced the renaming of Forest Hills’ multipurpose field in honor of Roland Paz Sr. The recognition connects the recreation space with a resident who helped establish organized soccer and advocated for neighborhood recreation improvements.
Paz founded the Forest Hills Soccer League in the 1970s and coached local players. His work supported recreation improvements, including tennis and racquetball courts. The city says the new multipurpose sports field occupies the location he envisioned before his death in 1977. The October 8 announcement recognizes the role residents play in building and sustaining public recreation spaces. Read the city’s account of Paz’s contributions for the field’s history and the community recognition.
