Tampa Theatre Marks 100 Years With Centennial Week and Sold-Out Birthday Celebration

Tampa Theatre turns 100 on Thursday, October 15, 2026, a century after its October 15, 1926 opening. A week of anniversary activities brings attention to one of downtown Tampa’s best-known cultural landmarks at 711 North Franklin Street.

The October 15 birthday event is sold out, according to Tampa Theatre’s current event page. Sidewalk festivities begin at 6 p.m., with Jazz Phools music, swing dancing, and portraits beneath the historic marquee. The theatre encourages 1920s attire.

The indoor program begins at 7 p.m. and includes remarks followed by Buster Keaton’s silent film “Sherlock Jr.” with the Paragon Ragtime Orchestra and the Mighty Wurlitzer theatre organ. Check the organizer’s page for the latest attendance information.

Other centennial-week activities reported by Osprey Observer include an October 11 public open house from 1 to 5 p.m. and classic-film screenings October 12–14. Those screenings are scheduled for 7 p.m., with doors at 6 p.m. and $13 tickets. Confirm availability with Tampa Theatre before making plans. The hero is an illustrative historic movie-palace scene.
