Overview
Dune sunflower is a fast-spreading Florida native groundcover with bright yellow flowers and a low, informal habit. It generally stays 1 to 2 feet tall and blooms heavily through warm weather when grown in strong sun.
Where to Use It
Use it on sunny slopes, coastal beds, large borders, pollinator gardens, and open spaces needing fast floral coverage. It works best in naturalistic designs where spreading stems and seasonal changes are welcome.
Light, Soil, and Water
Plant in full sun and sandy, sharply drained soil. Once established, it tolerates drought and salt exposure. Too much irrigation or rich soil produces soft growth and fewer flowers.
Best Time to Plant and Care
Plant in spring or early fall. Trim declining stems when flowering slows and allow healthy runners to fill open areas. Renew older plantings with rooted cuttings or new plants when the center becomes thin.
Important Considerations
